I find that most strings are too slippery when they are new, and some strings with roughen surface are getting too smooth after a while. In both cases, the strings do not grasp the balls very well.

You can use a string spin improvement device listed in below website. You can use it in all strings to roughen the string surface.

www.tennisspinmaker.com

Or in Google type in “tennis spin maker”.

I am a 5.0 player and use it for all of my strings. My friends are using it too.

You need to have a seriously fast swing to get any use out of Big Banger. I tried it in one of my racquets for a couple of weeks and I ended up hurting my wrist!! The stuff is sooooo firm that if you are used to "normal" strings, especially strung quite loose, you will find Big Banger almost impossible to use. If you are a serious player with mega-racquet head speed, it may well be for you, but for the average player with average head speed, dont bother.

Very informative. I have a quick q. about Luxilon. Just bought a O3 Speedport Red MP that came with Prince Tournament Nylon 15. It really leaves a lot to be desired. Looking to restring it. Before this racket, I was very pleased with DB More Control 850 OS, with Luxilon ALU Power 16L, strung at 53 by my pro shop. This was an out of range setting. DB recommended setting is [62 +/- 5]. I would like to re-string the O3 with Luxilon ALU Power Rough 16L. What tension should I use ?
